Future U offers students approximately twenty weekends of practice exams at our on-site testing center in Plainview, NY. These exams are administered under authentic testing conditions and help students gain comfort with the speed, length and complexity of standardized exams.
The ACT and SAT present a unique timing challenge to students. To use a sports analogy, it is the equivalent of sprinting a marathon. Students need great stamina and endurance to stay focused for approximately four hours, which is an eternity for any teenager. At the same time, they only have approximately forty seconds per question to make difficult analytical decisions. Future U believes the best way to train for this difficult timing challenge is to place students in an authentic testing environment as much as possible.
By consistently taking practice exams and reviewing them with their instructor, students are able to master the timing, techniques and strategies necessary for testing success. Each week the instructor reviews the exam with the student, reinforcing these strategies and correcting any mistakes. Constant testing also helps to reduce the pressure and anxiety that students experience when taking standardized exams. Students become more familiar with the ACT and SAT while developing the timing and mental endurance so vital to standardized test success.
